The Pain Away Clinic is an immersive installation at The OL Guild in Des Moines, Iowa that is a faux doctor’s office that replicates and heightens healthcare’s aesthetic. The Clinic highlights how the healthcare industry’s interior design can unintentionally impact patients. The clinic is also critical of the pharmaceutical industry with a rack of medications packaged similar to gas station snacks which include realistic medications warnings. For example Topamax: “will make you forget what day it is or how to do basic algebra.”
